Monday Morning Comes A Crawling

Mon Oct 13, 2008, 9:24 AM
  • Mood: Defeated
  • Listening to: Long Live The Queen - A. Turner
  • Reading: Lord Of The Flies
  • Watching: Adverts
  • Playing: Basketball
  • Eating: Not very much
  • Drinking: Cups of tea
"Monday morning, comes a crawling in
From another weekend choked with cigarettes and sin
I've been busy, so much lately
That every time I get some time to spend
I end up drunk or sleeping in
And I miss you, you're busy too
We call each other up, when we're messed up
And say we'll meet in the New Year
But it's perfectly clear we'll do no such thing
Come the spring

"And that's how I miss out, on another night
The kind of night where nothing really happens
Yeah but everything goes down
And at the end I'm just a promise to pick up the phone
When I'm in town."

- Frank Turner, St. Christopher Is Coming Home

"So stop looking so damn depressed".. I'm knackered. It seems like all this work to do is never ending, and the more I complain the harder it gets and the more I do the more tired I am and the end isn't near. What happened to my weekends? We used to just hang out at the beach, at our friend's houses, in town and in forests, having fun and acting like kids. Now everyone's so knackered it doesn't work. We have commitments and responsibilities and so many things to get done... When will everyone let go and feel together again, and rejoice in the fact that we're YOUNG?

Wish I was a Kellogg's Cornflake
Floatin' in my bowl takin' movies,
Relaxin' awhile, livin' in style,
Talkin' to a raisin who 'casion'ly plays LA,
Casually glancing at his toupee.
Wish I was an English muffin
'Bout to make the most out of a toaster.
Just have to say, I love your comment signature!

Thank you so much for stopping by my gallery and for the fave on untitled! [link]
It's a pleasure - I love your work. I'm only 15 so not very experienced (or skilful) but I aim to be as good as you one day! I see in your gallery that you do a lot of life drawing - I've just begun a class and it's really useful. I'm going to post some of my drawings so far soon, any tips would be very much appreciated!! The drawing book by Bargue also sounds interesting so I may try and get a copy... congrats on the DD, Laura.

Life drawing is an invaluable experience for gaining proper proportion and for becoming sensitive to the gesture of the model's pose. I would be happy to give you tips on any drawings you post. I would also recommend Bridgeman's Constructive anatomy. Its a cheap book (under 10) and is what I use with my students to teach life drawing. He has several books all of which are wonderful. And since he draws the anatomy, you get a great example of line quality and expressive mark making as well as what the important anatomy too look for is. I would recommend practicing drawing from this book in addition to the model.
Ok thanks for the advice! I've added some of my drawings to my gallery now - they're all titled Life Drawing. It would be great if you could have a look at them for me! Cheers, Laura
